1. Remove filter from hood.
2. Fill a sink or bucket with boiling water.
3. Toss in 1/4 cup baking soda and degreasing dish soap into hot water.
4. Soak filters into water, ensuring they are completing covered. Let soak for 10-15 minutes.
5. Scrub down the filters with a non-abrasive scrub. If necessary, use more dish soap for final cleaning.

Before you spend hard-earned money on a plumber, try this home remedy first. Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down your drain. Then add a whole cup of vinegar, cover the drain and allow it to sit for at least five minutes. Rinse with a large pan of boiling water.
