This ‘Hobo Crisp’ is so warm and comforting, the kids ask for it every single week!

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F or get your campfire ready with a grill over the flames.
2. In a bowl, combine the apple slices with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until the apples are evenly coated.
3. Divide the apple mixture evenly into individual foil packets or place in a baking dish for oven baking.
4. Top each portion with granola or oats and the cubed butter.
5. If you like nuts, sprinkle chopped nuts on top for extra crunch.
6. Seal the foil packets tightly, leaving space for steam, or cover your baking dish with foil.
7. Place in the oven or on the grill for 20-25 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
8. Carefully open the foil (watch out for steam) and let cool slightly before serving.
Variations & Tips
For a gluten-free version, make sure to use gluten-free oats or granola. If you’re dealing with nut allergies, simply omit the nuts. For some extra flair, add a dash of ginger or allspice to the apple mixture. You can even swap out the apples for pears or peaches if that’s what you have on hand. For a more indulgent topping, substitute some of the granola with crushed gingersnap cookies.
