This Crunchwrap Supreme had my entire family hooked! Will be doing it again next week!
By Morgan Reed
The Crunchwrap Supreme, a beloved favorite from the fast-food chain Taco Bell, encapsulates the essence of indulgent American-Mexican cuisine. This dish, like many fast-food innovations, is a symbol of the cross-cultural fusion that makes our culinary landscape so diverse and exciting. The Crunchwrap Supreme first graced the world in the early 2000s and captured the attention of those seeking a portable, savory meal that doesn’t skimp on flavor.
Now, why might someone crave a homemade version of this classic? Well, crafting your own allows for customizations to suit dietary preferences, ensures fresh quality ingredients, and adds a personal touch of love that leads to a higher tier of taste satisfaction.
When preparing this dish at home, consider serving it alongside a vibrant, fresh salsa, a dollop of guacamole, or a crisp side salad to balance out the richness. A cool and creamy horchata or a tangy glass of tamarind agua fresca can complement the diverse flavors beautifully.

Servings: 4
Ingredients:
– 4 large burrito-size flour tortillas
– 4 tostada shells or crispy corn tortillas
– 1 pound ground beef
– 1 packet (1 oz.) taco seasoning mix
– 1 cup nacho cheese or shredded Mexican cheese blend
– 1 cup sour cream
– 2 cups shredded lettuce
– 1 cup diced tomatoes
– 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend
– Vegetable oil for frying (optional)
Directions:
1. Begin by cooking the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Break it apart with a spatula until it’s fully browned. Drain any excess grease.
2. Stir in the taco seasoning mix, following the package instructions, usually combining the seasoning with a bit of water and simmering until the mixture thickens.
3. On a clean surface, lay out the large flour tortillas. Spoon an equal amount of the seasoned beef onto the center of each tortilla, leaving room around the edges for folding.
4. Drizzle the nacho cheese or sprinkle the shredded cheese over the beef on each tortilla.
5. Place a tostada shell on top of the cheese for each. Spread a spoonful of sour cream over the tostada shells, then top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and an additional sprinkle of shredded cheese.
