Ingredients
1. 1 cup all-purpose flour
2. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3. 1/4 teaspoon salt
4. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
5. 3/4 cup granulated sugar
6. 2 large eggs
7. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8. Zest of 1 lemon (optional)
9. Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a madeleine pan with butter or cooking spray.
2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. In another bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar until well combined. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
4. Stir in vanilla extract and lemon zest if using.
5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, folding gently until just combined.
6. Spoon the batter into the madeleine pan, filling each mold about 3/4 full.
7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers spring back when touched.
8. Let the madeleines cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
