Preheat oven to 230°C (450°F).
In a small bowl, mix the chopped garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt, pepper and olive oil to form a paste.
Rub the paste all over the surface of the bottom round roast.
Place the roast in a baking dish and bake at 230°C for 15 minutes until browned.
Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (180°C) and cook for an additional 45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 132°F (58°C) for rare, 145°F (63°C) for medium, or 150°F (68°C) for well done.
Let the roast rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
