Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
2. In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
4. Stir in orange juice and orange zest.
5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and almond meal.
6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
7. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top.
8. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
9. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes:
You can replace almond meal with finely ground oats for a different flavor. Serve with a side of fresh fruit for extra zest!
