Homemade Pita Bread Recipe

Roll Out the Dough:
Dust your work surface with flour to prevent sticking. Roll each ball into a flat circle with a diameter of about 16 cm (6-7 inches). Try to keep the shape as round as possible.

Cook the Pitas:
Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.

Place a rolled-out dough circle into the skillet and cook on one side until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
Flip the pita and cook the other side until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
Flip the pita back to the first side and watch as it puffs up, creating a pocket inside.

Cool and Enjoy:
Remove the pita from the skillet and place it on a plate. Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.
Allow the pitas to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature!

Serving Suggestions
Use pita bread for sandwiches, wraps, or as a side with dips like hummus or tzatziki.
Slice into wedges and toast for a crunchy snack.

Cooking Tips
Ensure the skillet is hot before adding the dough to achieve the best puff.
If the pita does not puff up, it could be due to the dough being too thick or the skillet not being hot enough.
